About Us

Ernest N. Brown started The Wednesday Magazine in 1937. Three more generations of Browns produced the publication through the years.The name of the paper changed to The Wednesday, and then The Wednesday Sun.

News-Press & Gazette Co. of St. Joseph, Mo., has owned the paper since 2004. The Wednesday Sun is published by Sun Publications, Overland Park, Kan.Steve Rose serves as publisher, and David Small as co-publisher.

The weekly newspaper is distributed free in South Kansas City, including the Brookside and Waldo areas.The Wednesday Sun offers stories of interest to South Kansas City residents, including news, features, sports and entertainment.
