KC GIRL GIVES WISH AWAY Mayor Mark Funkhouser recognized Julie Brock with a mayoral proclamation Nov. 21. Julie, 13, was diagnosed in 2008 with a rare heart defect that qualified her for a wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Julie’s wish was to donate the value of a travel wish – $5,000 – to the Guardian Angels Food Pantry. This marks the first time a Make-A-Wish recipient has chosen to give away a wish. “Julie Brock’s courageous and generous spirit should serve as an example for all Kansas Citans to follow,” Funkhouser said.
