This week, participants will learn about water conservation in the community and at home. Families will be provided with a free in-home water audit kit. Children will plant fescue grass in a tin can and measure the amount of water it takes to keep the grass green and growing. There will be supplies to decorate the can like a face or as a colorful planter, but each child should bring a clean metal can, 14 ounces or larger, with the top and label removed. JULY 10 The Wings of Freedom Tour of the WWII Vintage Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, Consolidated B-24 Liberator and North American P-51 Mustang present a display from July 10-12 at Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport in Kansas City, located at Executive Beechcraft, 10 NW Richards Road. Tour hours are 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The community is invited to visit, explore and learn more about the unique and rare treasures of aviation history. The B-17 is one of only nine in flying condition in the United States, the B-24J and Dual Control P-51C Mustang are the sole remaining examples of their type flying in the world. A $12 donation for adults and $6 donation for children under 12 is requested. Visitors also can take a 30-minute flight aboard the B-17, B-24 or P-51 for a tax-deductible donation.
