LOAN PROGRAM SUPPORTS AREA INVESTORS

A loan fund created by Greater Kansas City Local Initiative Support Corporation and supported by area investors is available to jumpstart redevelopment projects in low- to moderate-income areas. The Acquisition and Predevelopment Loan Fund started in 2007 and is currently looking for qualified applicants.

Loan maximums of up to $2 million will be considered. Loans will support development opportunities in LISC NeighborhoodsNOW communities on both sides of the state line. Greater Kansas City LISC will manage the loan fund with oversight from a loan committee.

BRUENING NAMED PEMBROKE BASKETBALL COACH

Aaron Bruening has been named the boys basketball coach at Pembroke Hill.

Bruening previously worked as the boys basketball coach at Lawrence High School, womens coach at Rockhurst University, girls coach at William Chrisman High School and girls coach at Lee’s Summit North High School.

“I’m very excited for the student-athletes in our community to have the opportunity to work under the guidance of such a proven coach and educator,” Don Earnest, Pembroke Hill athletic director, said. “Aaron is known for his enthusiasm, commitment to teaching student-athletes and eagerness to attract students to basketball.”

Breuning is a University of Kansas graduate and holds a master’s degree in mathematics. While at KU, he earned the Florence Black Excellence in Teaching Award. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University with an emphasis in mathematics.

ROCKHURST UNIVERSITY NAMES VP FOR ADVANCEMENT

Rockhurst University has named Thomas N. Dart vice president for advancement, effective July 1.

Dart will serve as a member of the senior leadership team, work on making partnerships and looking for engagement among the university’s internal and external constituencies. He will assist the president in fundraising efforts through donor cultivation and stewardship, and will lead staff responsible for planned, annual, foundation and major gifts, plus alumni outreach.

Dart comes to Rockhurst from Dominican University in Rover Forest, Ill., where he serves as assistant vice president for institutional advancement. Dart also has served with the Catholic Relief Services in a number of roles, including leadership to programs in the Middle East and former Yugoslavia, and service in Rwanda and Burkina Faso.
